“Most times, as facilitators, we may be tempted to think that being hired makes us the experts. But facilitating is not dictating. Every time I facilitate, I learn. It was such a joy learning from the Africa Team so organized, so kind, so deeply committed to the vision of Girls Not Brides, and so passionate about ending child marriage. Thank you for what you do. It was a privilege to share, and an even greater privilege to learn from your wells of wisdom.” Dorcus Magoba, Team Leader, Tabita Initiative
This week 25th -27th August, 2025, Tabita Initiative had the honor of facilitating the Africa Team Retreat of Girls Not Brides: The Global Partnership to End Child Marriage, hosted at Kalanoga Resort, Busabala, Uganda.
Under the theme “Rooted in Purpose, Rising Together”, the retreat provided a meaningful space for reflection, connection, and growth. Sessions focused on:
- Strengthening team bonding and organizational values
- Enhancing cross-team collaboration and communication
- Promoting well-being and resilience in the workplace
- Celebrating culture, diversity, and identity
- Skills building and capacity development
Through open dialogue, cultural showcases, and interactive activities, the Africa Team reaffirmed their shared commitment to the vision of ending child marriage. The retreat was not only an opportunity to align strategies and strengthen collaboration, but also a moment to celebrate the dedication, passion, and unity of the team.
For Tabita Initiative, facilitating this retreat was a reminder that leadership is about creating space for voices, learning from others, and building together. We return inspired, connected, and more committed to the mission of ensuring that every girl can live free from the threat of child marriage and thrive in her full potential.
