On May 6th, 2025, we launched the introduction and orientation session for the Black Belt Program of 1 Million Teachers (1MT) at FNC Academy, Busika Campus. This initiative is part of 1MT’s mission to empower educators in under-resourced communities to deliver inclusive, gender-responsive education. Through innovative approaches, peer-to-peer support, and strategic partnerships, 1MT aims to cultivate a global movement of skilled educational changemakers tackling what we call “The Triple Challenge.”
The theme of the day “The Teacher as a Potter” offered a powerful metaphor for the sacred responsibility of educators: shaping human potential. Just as a potter kneads, molds, and refines clay, teachers shape learners with patience, intentionality, and love. The session encouraged reflection, hands-on learning, and deep engagement with what it truly means to teach with purpose.
Participants explored the P.O.T.T.E.R. Framework, a model for reflective and purpose-driven teaching:
- P – Purpose: Teaching with intention and clarity of “why.”
- O – Opportunity: Seeing possibility in every learner and every moment.
- T – Touch: Understanding that every action leaves a mark be it gentle, firm, or formative.
- T – Teamwork: Recognizing that teaching is not a solo craft; collaboration is essential.
- E – Environment: Creating safe, positive spaces where learning and transformation can thrive.
- R – Reflection: Asking the hard questions “What impression am I leaving?” and adjusting with humility.
A key highlight was the collaborative pot-making activity. Teachers shaped clay into pots, bringing the metaphor to life. The experience was filled with creativity, laughter, and meaningful discussion highlighting how learners, like clay, are shaped by the hands that hold them.
Throughout the day, teachers reflected on their purpose, the legacy they hope to leave, and how they can shape the future with compassion and clarity. A shared affirmation resonated strongly:
“I am a potter. I make things beautiful.”
The session concluded with the Teacher’s Pledge a commitment to teaching with purpose, compassion, and collaboration throughout the year.
We are deeply grateful to FNC Academy, Busika Campus for their warm welcome, openness, and commitment to educational excellence. At 1 Million Teachers and Tabita Initiative Africa, we are honored to walk alongside teachers as they mold not just minds, but character and futures.
Together, we are shaping something truly beautiful.

I am inspired that I am a mind and future molder.
Everyday when I step out,I have to remind myself who truly I am.
No prayer is that God molds with me,hold my hands and we make someone out of no one.
Thank you for the inspiration.
